Snap closures are a wonderful alternative to buttons or zippers, especially in garments that need to be put on and taken off easily. The most common snap closures are sew-on snaps, snap tape and no-sew snaps. The type of snap closure you use will depend on your garment type.

How to use:
Step 1: Determine the placement of your snap closure. If you're working from a sewing pattern, the pattern instructions will tell you where to place the snap.

Step 2: Thread a sewing needle and knot the thread end.

Step 3: Apply the ball portion of the snap to the inside hemmed edge of the fabric layer that will overlap the other.

Step 4: Hold the ball portion of the snap in place, and bring the threaded needle down through one of the holes along the outer edge of the snap.

Tips & Warningstips
Use sew-on snaps to secure the overlapping edges of a garment where an invisible closure is desired and where no tension will be placed upon the closure. For example, snaps can be spaced in between the buttons on a blouse to keep the blouse front lying flat.
